Audubon, AMC sponsor forum on of speakers on wind industry

HOLDEN, Maine — On Thursday, March 31, Maine Audubon and the Appalachian Mountain Club, will co-sponsor Doing Wind Right, a public forum to explore this question with a panel of speakers representing environmental groups and the wind industry 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden.  For more information, call  989 2591.

Broom ball in Orono to raise funds for Make-A Wish Foundation

ORONO, Maine — The Third Watch Hockey Club and the University of Maine Women’s Hockey Team will compete,  instead of hockey, in the fourth annual Broom Ball Game at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the University of Maine Alfond Arena. The club raises money in the annual charity, and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine is this year’s recipient.  There will be prizes, a 50-50 raffle and Make-A-Wish Foundation items for sale. Veazie has nomination papers for Town Council, RSU vacancies

Buffet, tunes from 1950s planned at Winetrberry Heights

BANGOR, Maine — The Winterberry Heights Assisted Living & Memory Care Community will hold a ‘50s flashback event 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 18, at 932 Ohio St. in Bangor.

A dinner buffet and Rockin’ Ron and the New Society Band will play tunes from the 1950s. Admission is a $10 donation to the Hammond Street Senior Center. RSVPs are encouraged; call Edner Fago at 942 6002.
