Maine Restaurant & Lodging Expo for industry workers set in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Restaurant Association together with the Maine Innkeepers Association will host the 31st annual Maine Restaurant & Lodging Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

A business-to-business trade show for Maine’s food service and lodging industry, the expo includes 165 exhibit booths with companies exhibiting goods and services used by hospitality-based businesses.

The Maine Restaurant & Lodging Expo is not open to the general public. Admission is permitted only to those who own or are employed by a restaurant or other food service enterprise, or lodging establishment. Attendees may register at the door for $15 per person. For information, call 623 2178.

UMPI to hold observance of tsunami tragedy

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle invites the public to join them as they take time from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the university’s Campus Center Owl’s Nest to reflect on the recent earthquake and tsunami tragedy and ensuing events in Japan. Participants are encouraged to engage and heal by drawing, writing poetry, lighting a candle, sitting in silence, or watching a slideshow of the latest events surrounding the tragedy.
