DOVER-FOXCROFT — A former Millinocket man who has a long association with Hannaford’s has signed a purchase and sales agreement for Edwards Family Shop N Save in Dover-Foxcroft.

Will Wedge, 49, who is Hannaford’s director of fresh merchandising at the corporate office in Scarborough, informed store employees Friday that he planned to complete the purchase in mid-April. The store will be renamed Will’s Shop N Save. Wedge said he and his wife, Melissa, will relocate to the Dover-Foxcroft area.

‘’My career aspiration has always been to own my own supermarket, and I feel that Dover-Foxcroft is the perfect fit for my passion,’’ Wedge said Friday. ‘’I enjoy smaller communities, and I love the team aspect that I’ve witnessed in the Dover-Foxcroft store. It’s like a family.’’

The Air Force veteran, who has held a variety of jobs for Hannaford from training specialist to store manager in six different stores from Madawaska to York said no changes would be made in the staffing.

Wedge, who will be the owner-operator, said he will reach out to assist the community as much as possible. ‘’I want to make sure the store is valued by the Greater Dover-Foxcroft market as one that really supports and connects with the community.’’
