Houlton area teachers offered Project Learning Tree workshop

HOULTON, Maine — Maine Project Learning Tree is offering an educator workshop for area teachers and natural resource professionals 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in the library at Houlton High School.

Explore the school forest, outdoor classroom, maple sugar projects and more with natural resource professionals and trained PLT facilitators. Experience winter ecology of the forests and learn how to set up a permanent forestry plot for long-term data collection. The workshop includes time to explore the 2011 Project Learning Tree PreK-8 Activity Guide and make connections to state standards, while weaving a variety of environmental and conservation topics into your curriculum requirements.
