Columbia sets town meeting for March 21


COLUMBIA, Maine — The 52-article warrant for the town of Columbia is pretty much business as usual, according to town officials.

The meeting, which includes voting from the floor, is set for 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the Columbia Town Hall.

Positions to be voted on include one selectman for a three-year term, three overseers of the poor, a treasurer, an assessor, a road commissioner, a fire chief and a school board member for a three-year term.

Expenditure articles include $22,000 for the administrative assistant, $6,700 for municipal officers’ compensation, tax discounts, $7,000 for the operation of the town hall, $6,885 as the town’s membership in Pleasant River Ambulance Service, $19,000 for solid waste disposal, $150,000 for road maintenance, $12,000 for fire protection, and between $50,000 and $75,000 for a revaluation of town properties.
