Suspect in Portland robbery turns self in after seeing picture on the news

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine man is in custody after he flagged down a police officer to say he was the suspect pictured in a surveillance video of a robbery suspect at a Portland convenience store.

Police say 39-year-old James Blann of Portland told an officer at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday that he had seen photos of himself in a news report about the Monday robbery of the Big Apple store in Portland.

After being interviewed by police, Blann was arrested and charged with robbery.

Blann is being held at the Cumberland County jail.
