Chamber’s Business Expo emphasizes Midcoast business

Posted March 08, 2011, at 10:21 p.m.

We will host our annual Business Expo 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Samoset Resort in Rockport. The expo showcases many of our member businesses, letting people know that the midcoast is truly “open for business.”

As a chamber of commerce, we’re very proud of the diversity of businesses that we represent, and this event gives them all a chance to shine.  From banks, insurance agencies and accountants to spas, architects and graphic designers — their obvious pride in what they do and their dedication to our region is evident each year when we host this event.  That there is such diversity is truly indicative of the entrepreneurial spirit of the midcoast.

The Business Expo is open to the general public, admission is free. From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a cocktail reception, with cash bar.  Many exhibitors offer door prizes, which have proven quite popular in the past.  And this year, there is a raffle for two round-trip tickets on Cape Air.

There is something for everyone here, whether you are a local business looking for services, a resident looking to do home improvement, a lifelong student looking to expand your personal or professional education options or a foodie who wants to sample some local products.

Exhibiting businesses are encouraged to “do business” at the expo this year, whether that means making appointments, selling products, giving away samples or doing demonstrations.  Exhibitors will be divided into three categories:  Business Efficiency, Energy Efficiency and Lifestyle.

We’re looking forward to a fun, successful event.  This is a great opportunity for midcoast businesses to showcase their products and services.

This year’s expo lead sponsor is Time Warner Cable. Co-sponsors are Machias Savings Bank, North Atlantic Painting, Philbrook and Associates, Eastern Tire and Auto Service and Village Soup. Other sponsors include the reception sponsor Samoset Resort, bag sponsor Bangor Savings Bank and vendor refreshment sponsor J&B Diversified.
