The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — A group of Maine students has helped raise more than $30,000 for people with disabilities by dancing the night away in a 14-hour marathon.

The dance marathon at the University of Southern Maine in Portland helped raise money for STRIVE, an organization that offers social, educational and employment training for children and young adults with developmental disabilities.

More than 15 service organizations from local high schools also took part in the event, which ended early Sunday.

The Portland Press Herald says about 350 people participated in part of the marathon with about 60 people dancing from 8 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.
