Sgt. William Sheehan said Deputy Steven Saucier did not know exactly how long Kyle Stewart, 23, had been in the car, but when the officer was dispatched to the scene at around 4:30 a.m., he estimated Stewart had been inside the vehicle for more than an hour.
Saucier determined that Stewart had turned off Old Town Road and rounded the corner near Roger’s Market only to meander off the road and into a nearby snowbank, according to Sheehan.
Saucier suspected Stewart of being under the influence and administered field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed.
Sheehan said Stewart was also given a breathalyzer test and it was determined his blood alcohol level was 0.18. Stewart was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence and was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
