BANGOR, Maine — A 30-year-old Bangor man was arrested Sunday afternoon on several charges as the result of a check by city police to see if he was abiding by his bail conditions.

Bangor police Sgt. Larry Weber said Officer Steve Pelletier stopped by the Hammond Street home of Kevin Makepeace on Sunday. When he knocked on the door, no one answer but Pelletier could see Makepeace’s vehicle in the driveway. Another visit afterward yielded similar results, Weber said.

Pelletier eventually spotted Makepeace driving in the vicinity of Sixth Street and followed him into his driveway, where he arrested Makepeace on an active warrant out of Presque Isle for unpaid fines and fees connected to an operating under the influence charge.

Makepeace also was charged with driving with a suspended license and violating the conditions of his bail from a previous arrest, Weber said.

After his arrest, Makepeace was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained late Monday.
