Sabattus man charged with stabbing girlfriend, good Samaritan

The Associated Press

LISBON, Maine — A 30-year-old Maine man is being held on $25,000 bail for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and a good Samaritan who came to her aid.

Leein Hinkley of Sabattus is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Authorities say Hinkley and the woman got into an argument Sunday afternoon while driving through Lisbon. Hinkley allegedly stabbed the woman after she pulled into a driveway in front a house, and then stabbed the homeowner when he came to the woman’s aid.

Hinkley allegedly drove away with a 13-month-old baby in the car to his parent’s home in Sabattus, where he was arrested about 7 p.m.

Police said the woman, whose name was not released, is hospitalized with multiple stab wounds. The homeowner was treated and released, and the baby is OK.
