Bangor police arrest Glenburn man after foot chase
A Glenburn man was arrested early Wednesday afternoon after a brief foot chase on Main Street in Bangor.
Kirk Dephilippo, 22, was charged with being a habitual offender of state motor vehicle laws and taken to Penobscot County Jail, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said Wednesday night, citing an arrest report.
The suspect was released on bail later, Reagan said.
Reagan said Dephilippo came to the attention of Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan about 1:30 p.m. when he was spotted at the intersection of Buck and Main streets. Jordan followed Dephilippo into the parking lot of China Harbor and when he ran his license plate number determined he was the registered owner and that his license was suspended.
When Jordan approached Dephilippo, he fled up Main Street with Jordan in pursuit but made it only as far as the Main Street Irving next door before Jordan caught up with and arrested him, Reagan said.
According to the Bangor Daily News archives, Dephilippo has been convicted of motor vehicle violations on at least three occasions. Last July, he was fined $150 for driving without a license. In June 2009, he was fined $250 for operating with a suspended license and in October 2007, he was fined $150 for driving without a license. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
