Orono man charged in drug incident

By Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN Staff

An Orono man who had his car towed to a local garage for repairs on Sunday was charged with having a marijuana pipe after it was left in the vehicle in plain sight, Orono police Sgt. Scott Scripture said Monday.

“A tow truck driver called us because he smelled marijuana” when he opened the vehicle’s door, he said.

When Orono police arrived, they found a pot pipe in plain view, the sergeant said.

John Stanley, 18, was charged around 5 p.m. with the sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Correction: Eric Anderson, 22, who previously was listed as being charged with sale and use of drug paraphernalia, was not charged. He was the operator of the tow truck.
