Watervile school bus destroyed in fire

The Associated Press

WATERVILLE, Maine — Authorities say a fire has destroyed an empty school bus parked at the junior high school in Waterville. No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire was unknown. Lt. Rodney Alderman says the Friday morning fire started in the engine compartment.

Transportation officials tell the Morning Sentinel that the 5-year-old bus is too damaged and will have to be salvaged.

The driver had covered a general route Friday then parked the bus about 9 a.m.
