UMFK Bengals edge UMM women

MACHIAS — Megan Land sank five 3-pointers on her way to a team-high 16 points Thursday night to spark the University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals to a 61-57 Sunrise Conference women’s basketball victory over UMaine-Machias.

Jen Colpitts scored 13 points for UMFK, which maintained its hold on first place in the league standings while improving to 11-1 in Sunrise play.

Kayla Wood tossed in a game-best 20 points and handed out five assists to pace UMM. Sabree Rodriguez scored 13 points.

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., the Monks cruised to a 22-point halftime advantage and earned the Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory.

Megan McDevitt hit five 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 19 points for Saint Joseph’s College of Standish. Lindsay Moore netted 15 poitns and Abby Young added 13 for the Monks.

Paulette Wright and Phibe Pham paced Pine Minor College with 14 points each.

At Machias, Manny Odugbela poured in a game-high 33 points Thursday night to propel the Bengals to victory over the Clippers.

UMaine-Fort Kent will advance to the Sunrise Conference playoffs. Terrence Dockery scored 13 points and posted five assists and Kevin Loiselle tossed in 12 points.

Zach Pope led UMaine-Machias with 17 points and eight assists. Will Lewis netted 14 points.
