EMCC advances in playoffs

BANGOR — Fourth-seeded Eastern Maine Community College outscored Central Maine Community College of Auburn 33-24 in the second half to earn a 65-59 men’s basketball victory in a Yankee Small College Conference quarterfinal Monday night.

The Golden Eagles move on to face top-seeded Vermont Technical College in the semifinals at Southern Maine Community College in Portland Saturday at 5 p.m.

Thelbert Green led EMCC with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Edson Pierre scored 18 points, Mike Baltimore had 12 points and nine rebounds and Jeff Dubois chipped in 12 points and eight assists.

Russell Ford-Brown paced CMCC with 19 points while Bronson Drewry added 12 points.
