St. Joseph Healthcare CEO Norberta named to national leaders list

BANGOR, Maine — Sister Mary Norberta, president and CEO of St. Joseph Healthcare, is among the top women leaders in the hospital and health care industry, according to the national publication Becker’s Hospital Review.

Members of the journal’s recently released “52 Women Hospital & Healthcare Leaders” list were selected for their accomplishments in leading health care organizations, including improvement of patient care, development of relationships between providers, and facilitation of organizational growth. Each featured woman was nominated by her colleagues for contributing significant value to the health care industry.

Sister Norberta began her health care career as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She has held a number of positions including a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School and Boston College Graduate School of Nursing. She was appointed associate executive director of St. Joseph Hospital in 1980 and became CEO in 1982.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a Chicago-based publication for hospital executives and health care industry leaders.
