BOSTON — University of Maine’s Riley Masters again finished the mile in under four minutes to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships in the Valentine Invitational at Boston University Saturday.
Masters, a Bangor native, placed second in the event with a time of 3:58.17, breaking his own school record while running under 3:59.00 for the first time in his career.
Fellow Black Bear James Reed placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.20 seconds, qualifying him for the IC4A Championships.
For the UMaine women, Cearha Miller earned a win in the 200 meters, taking the victory with a top-10 school time of 24.09, qualifying her for the ECAC Championships. Jillian O’Brien also qualified for the ECACs by placing fifth (24.95).
Jesse Labreck finished the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds and Corey Conner took fifth in the mile with a time of 4:44.75. Both qualified for the ECACs with top-10 school marks.
