The Associated Press

LEWISTON, Maine — The head of Maine’s Roman Catholic Diocese is paying tribute to health care professionals and caregivers during the church’s annual “White Mass.”
Bishop Richard Malone will celebrate Sunday’s Mass at the Basilica of Saints of Peter & Paul in Lewiston. The 10 a.m. service will honor doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, therapists and others who work in the healing and medical professions.
The White Mass is scheduled to coincide with the World Day of Prayer for the Sick, which took place on Friday. The Mass is named for the color associated with the medical profession.
