CLINTON, Maine — Officials in Maine say heavy snow caused a roof to collapse, causing the deaths of four cows at Caverly Farms in Clinton.

Brian Caverly, an owner of the dairy farm, said it’s “remarkable” that 80 cows were rescued early Wednesday. He said four cows suffered broken legs and were euthanized.

The Morning Sentinel newspaper says the family-owned dairy farm, which sells its milk to Hood, has more than 800 head of cattle, including 425 milk cows.
