PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Slippery roads contributed to an accident early Tuesday morning that caused approximately $10,000 in damage to a Main Street business.

The accident took place just after 3 a.m., according to the Presque Isle Police Department.

Police said Ronald Saucier of Presque Isle was westbound on Academy Street in his 2005 truck when he came to the intersection with Main Street.

Police said it had snowed shortly before the accident and that Saucier was unable to stop the truck when he approached the intersection.

He skidded through the traffic lights, jumped a sidewalk and crashed into the front of Country Collectibles, a gift shop located at 387 Main St.

The truck was partially inside the building, and glass and wood on the front of the building were broken, according to police.

No one was inside the building at the time, and Saucier was unhurt.

His vehicle had minimal damage. Approximately $10,000 in damage was done to the store.
