ROCKLAND, Maine — Firefighters used an extrication device to free an unidentified woman from her minivan after it collided with a dump truck on Old County Road about 12:20 p.m. Monday.

It is unclear how the two vehicles landed in a snowbank on the side of the road, said Rockland Assistant Fire Chief Ken Elwell.

Rockland Fire and EMS took the woman to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport and called for a LifeFlight helicopter, according to Elwell. He was unsure whether the woman later was taken anywhere by the helicopter.

Local police said the case was under investigation and that they could not release any information until on-scene officers completed their reports. Those reports were not expected to be done until Tuesday morning.

The dump truck driver was unharmed, Elwell said.
