WESTBROOK, Maine - Police in Westbrook, Maine, are looking for a driver who may have intentionally headed into a flock of ducks, killing nine of them.
Lt. Mike Nugent tells the Portland Press Herald that the ducks huddle on a road in Riverbank Park. He says the mallards and black ducks apparently were killed deliberately by someone who drove through the flock about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. A passer-by saw the dead ducks and called police.
Nugent said it is against the law to intentionally kill a bird with a motor vehicle. The misdemeanor offense is punishable by as much as six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
