Katie (Flaherty) McCabe, who directed the Husson University field hockey program to back-to-back North Atlantic Conference titles in 2009 and 2010, will relinquish the position.

McCabe, who directed the Eagles to a combined 19-13 record (11-5 NAC) during her tenure, cited family concerns for her decision.

“I have had the most wonderful experience here at Husson University,” McCabe said in a press release. “The faculty and athletic staff at Husson have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout my time here and I would like to thank everyone for that.”

McCabe guided Husson to consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, including a 4-3 loss to Babson College last fall.

“I am grateful to have worked with such fantastic young women,” she said. “They have proved to me, themselves and the community that they can be successful and competitive on a national scale. I will miss each one of them very much but am looking forward to spending quality time with my family.”

Husson athletic director Bob Reasso said Husson will begin an extensive search to find a successor for McCabe.
