Medomak Valley wins WM Class B cheering title

AUGUSTA — The Medomak Valley Panthers turned in another strong all-around performance and captured the Western Maine Class B cheering title at the Augusta Civic Center Saturday.

The Panthers compiled 140.9 points to edge Leavitt of Turner, which had 136.2. Other Class B teams qualifying for the state finals at the Bangor Auditorium on Feb. 12 were Wells (134.8), Lisbon (129.6), Poland (128.2) and Mountain Valley (121.5).

In other regional competitions held at the ACC, the Lewiston Blue Devils captured the Eastern Maine Class A crown with a dominating score of 160.5. Brewer finished second with 145.9 points and was followed by state-meet qualifiers Bangor (139.1), Oxford Hills of South Paris (137.1), Edward Little of Auburn (134.7) and Hampden Academy (134.7).

Marshwood of Eliot won the WM Class A regional with 160.2 points. Also qualifying for the state meet were Biddeford (146.6), Noble of South Berwick (144.1), Thornton Academy Saco (143.9), Scarborough (136.4) and Bonny Eagle of Standish (128).

In WM Class C, Monmouth Academy collected the regional title with 116.4 points. Also advancing to the state meet were Livermore Falls (106.2), Saint Dominic of Auburn (102), Jay (100.4), Madison (94.8) and Boothbay (94.1).
