Dover-Foxcroft hitchhiker arrested

A man from Dover-Foxcroft who is barred by court order from drinking was arrested after Bangor police saw him hitchhiking on Broadway on Thursday night and found that he had been consuming alcohol, Sgt. Allen Hayden said Friday.

Roderick Cole, 30, was taken to the Penobscot County Jail for violating his bail conditions. He remained in jail Friday night, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

The Bangor Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team charged a clerk at the Corner Mini Mart on Union Street and the store with selling alcohol to minors, Sgt. Allen Hayden said Friday.

Ashley Harris sold alcohol to an underage Special Enforcement Team volunteer around 6:40 p.m. Thursday, according to Hayden. The fine for a first offense by an individual is $190 and would increase if repeat offenses occurred. The fine is $500 for a first offense by a store and would increase if repeat offenses occurred, Sgt. Paul Edwards has said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
