St. Joe’s men defeat Emerson

BOSTON — Tyler Kelley scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds in leading Saint Joseph’s College of Standish past Emerson College 58-53 in men’s basketball action Thursday night.

The Monks improved to 9-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Matthew Medeiros and Zach O’Brien both scored 11 points for the Monks.

Nathan Firn and Alex Dempsey each had 10 points to lead Emerson.

At Machias, Will Lewis posted 17 points and six assists as the University of Maine at Machias held off the University of Maine at Presque Isle Wednesday night.

Hampton Mack had 15 points for the Clippers. Zach Armstrong scored 14 points and Zach Pope had 11 points.

Patrick Manifold paced the Owls with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Clifford McDonald had 17 points, Kyle Corrigan scored 15 points and Miguel Vazquez posted 10 points.
