Dixfield man charged with drug trafficking

DIXFIELD, Maine — Police charged a local man Sunday night with unlawful trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after they searched his house.a search of his house at 15 Taylor Road.

Dixfield Sgt. Jeff Howe said Christopher Taylor, 50, was given a court summons. Also given a summons was Troy Barnett of Carthage, who was charged with civil possession of marijuana.

Howe said he and several Dixfield and Mexico police officers, as well as Maine State Police Trooper Adam Fillebrown and his trained dog, entered the house and garage at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday after obtaining a search warrant. He said police confiscated drugs, drug paraphernalia and $500 cash. The combined value of all the items was $2,000, he said.

Both Taylor and Barnett are scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on April 5.

The Dixfield Police Department also investigated the following recent accidents.

–Vehicles driven by Nathan D. Conley, 23, of Winter Hill Road, Carthage, and Alan Linkletter, Athens, collided at 3:16 p.m. Jan. 18 on Route 2. Conley’s 2004 Chevrolet pickup and Linkletter’s 2001 Ford pickup, each sustained $14,000 damage.

–A 2004 Toyota sedan driven by Laura Pepin, 41, of the Common Road, Dixfield, struck and killed a deer as Pepin was driving east on the Canton Point Road at 12:05 a.m. Jan. 15. The vehicle sustained $2,500 damage.

Burglary

–A first floor, unoccupied apartment on Mill Street was burglarized sometime before 5 p.m. Jan. 19. Taken were a kitchen sink, a bathroom sink and a toilet.
