Husson University security officers heard about a drinking party at Bell Hall early Sunday and after investigating with a Bangor police officer, seven students ended up facing charges, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

Bangor police Officer Michael Brennan, who is the college liaison, met two Husson security officers at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the dormitory and went to the room where the party was being held.

They “could immediately smell the odor of intoxicating beverages saturating the hallway and also observed an empty beer can on the floor,” Edwards said in a press release.

Five people in the dorm room, Kylie Prosser, 19, of Brunswick; Zachary Messier, 18, of Gilford, N.H.; Mark Green, 18, of Eliot; Nathan Rollins, 18, of Parsonsfield; and Catherine Fortuna, 19, of Hampton, N.H., were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

Kyle Kyllonen, 20, of Poland was charged with providing a place for minors to consume alcohol, and Zachary Haithcock, 18, of Hollis, N.H., was charged with the sale or use of drug paraphernalia for a marijuana grinding device in his possession, Edwards said.

Prosser and Fortuna are Husson students and the other five are students at the New England School of Communications, which is located on the Husson campus, a Husson spokeswoman said.

All seven students are scheduled to be in court Feb. 23 in Bangor, Edwards said.
