Brewer officer charges two

By Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN Staff

Brewer police Officer Amy Nickerson was busy early Sunday when she charged two people during two separate incidents, Lt. Chris Martin said Monday.
She was sent to a loud party on North Main Street at 1:05 a.m. When she approached the location she noticed a running car parked in the driveway and “its windows were all fogged up,” Martin said.
Nickerson knocked on the window and when the vehicle door was opened, she detected the strong smell of marijuana and decided to search the vehicle and its occupants.
Syriane Baldwin, 24, of Bangor was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
After Nickerson left the party call, at around 2:30 a.m., she noticed a vehicle driven by Nicholas Souza, 19, of Bangor fail to stop at the flashing red light at the junction of State Street and North Main Street.
A 40-ounce bottle of beer was found in Souza’s car and Nickerson charged him with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. He also was charged with failure to stop at a flashing red light.
Neither Baldwin nor Souza was arrested.
