Tufts men hand Bowdoin third loss

BRUNSWICK — Scott Anderson tallied 23 points and eight rebounds to lead Tufts to a 64-55 men’s basketball victory over Bowdoin Friday night.

Amauris Quezada added 15 points for Tufts.

Will Hanley led Bowdoin with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Randy DeFeo added 11 points and Justin Nowell 10.

At Fort Kent Thursday, Emiliano Void scored 22 points and Kevin Loiselle added 15 to lead UMaine-Fort Kent past UMaine-Presque Isle.

Manny Odugbela scored 11 points for the Bengals.

Kyle Corrigan had 14 points and Patrick Maniford 13 for the Owls.

At Orono, Alexandra Garcia stopped all 31 shots she faced, including 18 in the third period, as the Huskies shut out the Black Bears in the Women’s Hockey East Association contest at Alfond Arena.

Alexandra Vakos’ goal in the first period was all the scoring Connecticut needed, but a pair of power-play goals in the second period by Kelly Horan and Jennifer Chiasson sealed the victory.

Candice Currier made 10 saves on 13 shots, and Brittany Ott stopped both shots she faced in the third period.

UConn (11-13-1 overall, 7-4-1 in league play) finished 2-for-5 on the power play, while Maine (9-12-4, 3-8-2) went 0-for-3.

Women’s basketball

UMPI 61, UMFK 58

At Fort Kent Thursday night, Rashell Saucier dropped in 24 points and collected 13 rebounds to lead the Owls past the Bengals.

Megan Korhonen added 10 points for UMaine-Presque Isle.

Jenn Colpitts had 23 points and Maliesha Caesar 16 for UMaine-Fort Kent.
