DeMillo scores 1,000th in USM women’s win

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Senior guard Kaylie DeMillo of Jay scored the 1,000th point of her college career Wednesday night to help the University of Southern Maine post a 76-62 Little East Conference women’s basketball victory over Plymouth State.

Becky Dixon paced Southern Maine of Gorham with 17 points and nine rebounds and Courtney Cochran tallied 15 points, while DeMillo finished with 14 points. Erin McNamara and Haley Jordan added 10 points each.

Alicia Doucet poured in a game-high 29 points to propel Plymouth State. Colleen O’Hara scored 13 points.

At Standish, Bates College of Lewiston jumped out to a 26-13 halftime¬†lead and cruised to victory over Saint Joseph’s College.

Allie Beaulieu led the Bobcats with 20 points. Jessie Igoe had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Ashley Geel was 7-for-9 from the field and scored 15 points for the Monks. Abby Young scored 14 points. Mackenzie Dufour had five assists.

At Standish, John Squires scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in leading Bates College of Lewiston to victory over Saint Joseph’s College.

Brian Ellis had 12 points for the Bobcats and Alex Gallant chipped in 10 points.

Chris Petzy scored a game-high 17 points and had four assists to lead the Monks. Zach O’Brien had 16 points and Matthew Medeiros totaled 11 points and four assists.

At Plymouth, N.H., Ian Dempsey scored a game-high 20 points to lead the PSU Panthers past the University of Southern Maine.

Tom Dowd scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Ryan Lambert had 12 points for the Panthers.

Otis Smith led the USM Huskies with 15 points and seven rebounds. Sean Bergeron scored 13 and Alex Kee scored 10.
