FORT KENT, Maine — An employee of Frank Martin Sons Inc., a heavy equipment dealership, has been summoned for allegedly stealing $4,000 from the company’s vault.

According to Kenneth Michaud, Fort Kent chief of police, Marc L. Raymond, 41, of Caribou was charged with theft by deception in connection with the missing money. The Class C crime is punishable by up to 5 years in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.

Raymond, who Michaud said no longer works at Frank Martin Sons, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Feb. 17 at the district court in Caribou.

Raymond, originally from Daigle, worked as the company’s warrantee administrator for five years.

Michaud said employees began noticing funds missing from the business late last summer and continuing until surveillance cameras installed inside the building caught Raymond on film allegedly removing money from the company vault on Jan. 17.

Michaud said Raymond remains at liberty while awaiting his court appearance.
