AUGUSTA, Maine — Central Maine Power is holding an expo for job seekers as it prepares to ramp up work on a $1.4 billion power grid upgrade.

Job seekers in the construction trades, contractors and suppliers will be able to meet with primary contractors and consultants to discuss employment opportunities Tuesday at the Augusta Civic Center.

The five-year project features 450 miles of new or rebuilt transmission lines. It’s aimed at assuring reliability and creating capacity for future wind power projects in the state.

CMP said the project will create about 2,100 new jobs and provide $61 million in wages for each year of construction. printed on April 23, 2017
