ELLSWORTH, Maine — An equipment problem left more than 2,000 Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers without power for two hours late Sunday night.

Bangor Hydro spokesperson Susan Faloon said Monday that one phase of the three-phase distribution line malfunctioned at about 9 p.m. on North Street (Route 179) about a half mile from the Mill Street sub-station. The outage affected a total of 2,170 customers in Ellsworth and the towns of Clifton, Mariaville and Waltham among other surrounding towns.

Crews had the line repaired and power restored by 11 p.m. Sunday, Faloon said.
