BANGOR, Maine — An intoxicated Florida man who was kicked out of Raena’s Pub on Larkin Street in Bangor after arguing with the bartender about his bar tab got into troubled with the law early Monday when he decided to yell, “He’s got a gun!” Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
“He was drunk and disorderly and made up a story he was robbed,” he said.
Police went to the corner of Main and Larkin streets at around 12:05 a.m. and found Shain Eblen, 26, of Zephyrhills, Fla., screaming about being attacked. Police quickly determined that he was not telling the truth after he told them two different stories about who attacked him — his first story that it was a large, white man and his second story that it was three black men, Edwards said.
“The whole thing was a lie,” he said.
Eblen was arrested on suspicion of filing a false report and taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Monday afternoon.
