Washington County grand jury indicts 24

MACHIAS, Maine — Twenty-four people were indicted this week by the Washington County grand jury, including a man accused of killing a friend in a drunken driving crash last summer, four people accused of a daylight home invasion and assault, and 11 others charged with drug violations.

Daniel Dwelley, 23, of Princeton and Bangor was indicted on charges of manslaughter, aggravated criminal operating under the influence, aggravated assault, violation of conditions of release, operating after suspension and unauthorized use of property.

Dwelley is accused of driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier during the early morning crash on Saturday, July 10, on South Princeton Road in Baileyville. Andrew Dow, 24, of Princeton was killed in the crash, and both Dwelley and a passenger, Michelle Takach, 27, of Baileyville, were injured.

Dwelley has remained in Washington County Jail since his arrest in December 2010, held under $10,000 cash bail.

Eight people were indicted on a variety of drug charges involving drug investigations in the Harrington area by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, between June 30 and July 2. They were:

Michael Perry, 55, Cherryfield, unlawful trafficking of drugs.

Stephen Eliot Robinson, 50, Harrington, two counts of unlawful possession of drugs and two counts of unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Dawn M. Parker, 43, Cherryfield, two counts of unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Samantha J. Hurlbert, 24, Jonesport, unlawful furnishing and unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Michael G. Strout, 49, Milbridge, unlawful trafficking and unlawful possession of drugs.

Amanda L. Holland, 26, Addison, unlawful possession of drugs and two counts of unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Vestin L. Drisko II, 31, Addison, unlawful furnishing and unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Danielle L. Dawes, 41, Harrington, unlawful furnishing and unlawful trafficking in drugs.

Four people were indicted after a Dec. 20 home invasion in Steuben, where they are accused of assaulting and robbing a woman on Pigeon Hill Road. The homeowner, who police reported was pregnant, said she was assaulted after two men entered her home and stole money, prescription drugs and jewelry. She was treated at Mid-Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and released.

Jeremy L. Nason, 28, of Machias, Shawn A. Ashworth, 35, of Bangor and Kyle M. Thebodeau, 22, of Bangor were indicted on charges of robbery, stealing drugs, three counts of burglary, assault and three counts of theft by unauthorized taking.

Ashworth and Nason also were indicted on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

In the same home invasion case, Samantha Robert, 19, of Milbridge was indicted on charges of robbery, stealing drugs, burglary, assault, theft by unauthorized taking, and three counts of receiving stolen property.

Two Roque Bluffs men who were caught with marijuana in a Washington County Sheriff’s Office drug raid in September 2010 also were indicted.

Jade R. Chandler, 25, was indicted on charges of unlawful trafficking of drugs and unlawful furnishing of drugs.

Shaun L. Moody, 27, whose home was raided, was indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking and aggravated unlawful furnishing of drugs, criminal forfeiture of a firearm and forfeiture of cash.

Police seized 30 marijuana plants, eight of them in an indoor growing operation, and 321 grams of processed marijuana.

Others indicted were:

Jeremy B. Linton, 37, Calais, gross sexual assault, domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, and three counts of violation of condition of release.

Eric P. Buck, 29, Machias, unlawful possession of drugs.

Michael A. Steadman, 27, Calais, three counts of violation of conditions of release and three counts of violation of a protective order.

Wade L. Skidgel, 31, Machias, theft of lost, mislaid or mistakenly delivered property.

Stephen A. Treadway, 29, Calais, two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and violation of condition of release.

Lynwood R. Toole, 57, Alexander, domestic violence assault.

Jessica Ramsdell, 34, Lubec, hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Patrick G. Mullen, 20, Portland, reckless conduct, criminal threatening and violation of condition of release.

Jesse F. Bartlett, 46, East Providence, R.I., 24 counts of possession of sexually explicit materials involving a child under age 12.
