Bowdoin’s balance beats UMPI

BRUNSWICK — Will Hanley led six players in double-figures with 18 points as the Bowdoin College Polar Bears cruised to a 113-58 men’s basketball victory over the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls Thursday night.

Ryan O’Connell and Andrew Madlinger each scored 14 points for Bowdoin. Randy DeFeo and Justin Nowell both had 12 points and Nick Lenker chipped in 10 points.

Clifford McDonald and Chris Coffin both scored 10 points to lead the Owls.

At Waterville, Mike Russell tallied 23 points and 15 rebounds as Colby College defeated visiting Rhode Island College.

Gordon Fischer and Christian Van Loenen each had 12 points for Colby while Kyle Donovan scored 11 points.

Antone Gray and Mason Choice both led RIC with 13 points.

At Boston, junior Mary Garon and sophomore Dominique Demar both scored 16 points in leading Suffolk University to victory over Saint Joseph’s College of Standish.

Allie Parent led the Monks with 12 points. Abby Young scored 11 points and Mackenzie Dufour totaled nine points.

At Brunswick, Allie Piscina scored 15 points in leading Bowdoin College past the University of Maine at Presque Isle and giving the Polar Bears its 12th win.

Amy Hackett had 13 points for the Polar Bears and Katie Bergeron chipped in 10 points. Jill Henrikson had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Megan Korhonen led the Owls with 10 points and six rebounds.
