ROLLINSFORD, N.H. – Madeline Boles Reed, 95, formerly of 417 Washington St., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Greenbriar Terrace, Nashua, N.H. The daughter of Percy and Marion (Sparrow) Boles, she was born and raised in North Amity. She married Arthur Reed and started her family. She became a teacher, retiring from Berwick schools in 1980. Madeline graduated from Houlton High School and business school, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maine while teaching full-time. She loved reading, cooking, politics, gardening and dancing. She loved children, but her own children and her husband were the loves of her life. She loved entertaining with her stories and engaging in heated political debate. Survivors include her son, Warner Reed and wife, Shirley, of Atkinson, N.H.; daughter, Sharon Reed-Erickson and husband, Alan, of Rochester, N.H.; sister, Patricia Campbell of Houlton; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Arthur Reed; and daughter, Leota Kilburn. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at First Church Congregational, 63 South Main St., Rochester, N.H.
