A 29-year-old Bangor woman who offered a man a cigarette Monday night was assaulted by him for unknown reasons, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

Christopher Rosene, 41, was invited into the woman’s Union Street residence at around 9:45 p.m., and when “she gave him the cigarette … he punched her in the face,” Edwards said. “This guy just snapped and he beat her for no reason.”

Rosene was charged with assault but was not arrested. After the incident, he was taken to Hope House, a shelter for people struggling with drugs and alcohol. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
