MILBRIDGE, Maine — Wardens and Milbridge police officers on Tuesday morning located the body of a local woman who had been missing since Friday.
Authorities found the body of Mary Kelly, 58, of Milbridge at about 11 a.m. Tuesday along the Narraguagus River shoreline about a mile west of her Water Street residence.
Kelly last was seen Friday morning at the Milbridge post office while dropping off her mail. She was reported missing Monday morning by a co-worker who called the Milbridge Police Department.
Kelly owned Kelley’s Flower Shop in Milbridge and lived in a residence above the business, according to a press release from the Maine Warden Service. The release noted that the woman’s last name and the shop’s name had different spellings, but offered no explanation. No one answered the phone at the shop Tuesday afternoon.
Milbridge police Officer Jeff Turcotte investigated Kelly’s disappearance and contacted the Maine Warden Service on Monday afternoon to assist in the search.
Maine Marine Patrol officers assisted in the search using two boats. A Maine Warden Service pilot searched from the air while game wardens searched in town and along the shoreline.
Officers at the scene did not believe there was any foul play, according to a press release.
The Maine medical examiner’s office has been notified, and the Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home in Milbridge is assisting officers.
