CAMDEN — The U. S. National Toboggan Championships will be held on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 11-13.
This three-day event will begin on
Friday, teams registger and toboggans are inspected in Tobogganville from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Toboggan Chute will be open 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for teams to practice and the public to enjoy the experience of a fast ride down the chute at a cost of $5 per person (conditions permitting).
A “Welcome Reception” in the big white tent, located in Tobogganville, will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. hosted by Point Lookout Resort and Conference Center, with a cash bar 3:30-7 p.m. A bonfire will welcome visitors while they check out the food vendors, souvenir shack and listen to music. The Snow Bowl slopes will be open for skiing and snowboarding Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Saturday will begin with a Pancake Breakfast at the Camden Teen Center 7-9 am followed by shuttle bus rides to the races held at the Camden Snow Bowl. Shuttle bus rides to and from the Snow Bowl will continue all day.
Teams can register and have their toboggans inspected at the information booth in Tobogganville 7-11 a.m.
The Chili & Chowder Challenge will be held in the big white Welcome Tent 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and the Costume Contest participants will hold their parade at 12:30 p.m. at the bonfire for the public to view and then place their votes in the ballot box at the Souvenir Shack.
At 5:30 p.m. the fireworks over Camden Harbor will begin.
Sunday will begin with a Pancake Breakfast to be held at the Welcome Tent in Tobogganville 7-9 a.m. and the 4 person team racers begin at 9 a.m. to be followed by final run-off races of all teams.
We welcome race teams from all over the country and our public viewers from the New England area to enjoy the weekend in Camden at the annual U. S. Toboggan National Championships.
