BANGOR, Maine — The board of trustees for Maine’s university system is reviewing new degree programs, an energy upgrade at the University of Southern Maine and a draft business plan on distance education.

The University of Maine System board, which oversees the state’s seven universities, is meeting Monday in Bangor.

The board is scheduled to consider the creation of a Ph.D. degree in anthropology and environmental policy at its Orono campus, as well as a new master of science degree in early childhood education at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Trustees will also review USM’s recent conversion from oil to natural gas for its heating needs, and select a provider to develop a web portal.
