BLUE HILL, Maine — The next “One Percent Wednesday” at Blue Hill Co-op will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

The co-op will donate 1 percent of sales that day to the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium in Blue Hill.

Through this community donation program, the co-op designates the third Wednesday of every month to give 1 percent of the day’s sales to an arts organization.

Founded in 2007, the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium has been recognized nationally for involving area communities in creating and supporting a unique collection of public art.

The next symposium will be held in the summer of 2011 and will create sculptures for towns in Washington and Hancock counties. Blue Hill has been selected as one of six communities to receive a sculpture from this third of five planned symposiums.

To nominate a favorite local nonprofit or community-based organization for One Percent Wednesday, go to the Blue Hill Co-op website at: bluehill.coop/site/community-resources/one-percent/.
