PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine woman convicted of beating her husband with a baseball bat and then shooting herself to divert blame is going to prison for 16 years.
Justice Joyce Wheeler handed down the sentence Friday after Linda Dolloff of Standish maintained her innocence, sticking to her story that an intruder caused the injuries.
Dolloff was convicted last year of attempted murder. A jury concluded that she beat her husband in the face as he slept on April 12, 2009, and then shot herself to make the attack look like a home invasion.
The judge imposed a 25-year sentence but suspended nine years of the prison sentence. Dolloff is appealing her conviction.
