A 58-year-old Bangor woman was caught stealing from J.C. Penney at the Bangor Mall on Tuesday night and was arrested and charged with theft, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Wednesday.

Parveen Mirza reportedly took $172 worth of merchandise and left the store at around 6:15 p.m. without paying for it, he said. The items taken included three bracelets, sportswear and lingerie.

She was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
