What red tape would you cut?

The top priority of Gov. Paul LePage and the Republican majority in the Legislature is to cut red tape; i.e., make it easier for businesses to get permits to open or expand. An ad hoc committee is hosting hearings to glean information from business owners. What would you tell the committee? The law expected to be passed is titled “An Act to Ensure Regulatory Fairness and Reform.” What, specifically, is unfair and what needs to be

reformed? Legislators say they have heard from business owners that state regulators often have a less-than-helpful attitude. Is this true? Does attitude matter?
