Man arrested in Brewer after destroying girlfriend’s door

An early morning fight in Brewer led to the arrest of a Pleasant Point man after he destroyed a door at his girlfriend’s residence, Lt. Chris Martin said Thursday.

Police were called to a North Main Street residence around 12:40 a.m. Thursday after the report of an intoxicated man breaking things, but he had left the residence by the time officers arrived.

Christopher Paul, 28, reportedly was found minutes later walking down the street.

“He had ripped a door off its hinges and broke it in half,” Martin said.

Paul had bloody knuckles and admitted to police that he broke the door, the lieutenant said.

He was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained late Thursday afternoon, a jail official said.
