VAN BUREN – Allen J. Picard, 77, died Dec. 30, 2010, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born Jan. 6, 1933, in St. Anne, New Brunswick, son of Albert and Alice (Martin) Picard. Allen was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post 49, Van Buren. He was employed as an auto mechanic for Chanel’s Exxon, Van Buren, for more than 30 years. Allen was a devoted father, husband and grandfather, and it was evident to all who knew him that the most precious things in his life were his faith, his family and his work. He is survived by one son, Robert Picard and his wife, Wanda, of Presque Isle; one daughter, Rachel Duplessis and her husband, Dean, of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Sam, Ben, and Michael Picard and Nicole Duplessis; and two sisters, Gaetane Desjardins and Thelma Chamberland, both of Southington, Conn. He was predeceased by his wife, Gisele (Damboise) Picard, in 2009; and by his brother, Martin Picard. Relatives and friends may call 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
