Woman seriously injured in Jonesport hit-and-run

JONESPORT, Maine — A Jonesport woman remained hospitalized Monday with life-threatening injuries suffered when she was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning on Kelly Point Road in Jonesport.

According to Maine State Trooper Mike Southard, he and other troopers responded to the call of the discovery of a woman lying in the roadway. The female appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and was badly injured. She was taken to Down East Community Hospital.

From there, the victim later was taken by LifeFlight Air Ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Southard reported that the circumstances of how the woman was struck are being investigated. The vehicle had not been located.

Southard was assisted at the scene and with the investigation by Troopers Staci Carpenter, Sgt. Alden Bustard, Detective Elmer Farren, and Detective Micah Perkins.
